The site was officially ‘opened’ on Friday the 11th February 2011 on behalf of the owner Thomas Guy Limited (a local family firm) by the Mayor of West Lancashire – Cllr John Baldock.
On Saturday February 12th 2011 the development was opened to the public in celebratory style with thousands of heart shaped balloons handed out.  The visitors visited the various retailers, tea shop, restaurant and gallery whilst enjoying the entertainment laid on in the central courtyard which included local singers, dance groups and bands.  There will be similar events in the Wharf throughout the year.
